The Pound is intending to get stronger. Overview for 29.11.2018

29.11.2018

GBPUSD was growing actively yesterday and may carry the momentum through the week.

The British Pound remains strong against the USD on Thursday afternoon. The current quote for the instrument is 1.2836.

The Pound took advantage of the American currency weakness yesterday and moved upwards quite a lot. This factor even put the Brexit on the back burner for some time. However, the Brexit also has something to offer.

Yesterday, Her Majesty's Treasury (HM Treasury) and the Bank of England reported on possible consequences of the country’s exiting the European Union. According to their calculations, in case of the “tough” scenario, the British economy will be 10% weaker by 2023 in comparison with the “soft” one.

The general conclusion of the British government and regulator is quite interesting. It says that the country’s economy would be much better in the long-term, if the United Kingdom stayed in the European Union. This information is a real “pennies from heaven” for those policymakers, who are now in opposition to the Prime Minister Theresa May, because they may use it in the further Brexit talks.

The United Kingdom will continue publishing the statistics until the end of the week, but only one report, the GfK Consumer Confidence, is worth paying attention to, because it may pose risks to the Pound.
